On May 24, 2013, at 9:30 pm, a homeowner on Bellwood Drive, in Pomfret, heard explosions coming from her front yard. When she looked outside, she discovered several plastic chemical reaction devices detonating on her front yard. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and requested the State Fire Marshal’s Bomb Squad due to the chemical reaction bombs-soda bottle bombs. Several vehicles were seen leaving the area just prior to the devices exploding. A criminal investigation is continuing. The estimated loss to the single family home is $50.
