At its annual meeting and dinner, The St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce recognized the efforts of Robin Finnacom, President and CEO of the Community Development Corporation, with its annual Public Servant Award. The award is presented to an individual public sector, whether a government or public agency employee and/or an elected official, who in the performance of their duties and interaction with business, display a clear understanding of the business perspective and value the role that business plays in the community. In presenting the award outgoing Chamber Board Chair Buzz Shelly lauded Finnacom for her numerous achievements since joining county government in 2000. Among those include the Lexington Manor acquisition, relocation and demolition project, representing the single largest CDBG grant to a local government in the history of the State’s program. Her commercial efforts include operation of the Revolving Loan Fund; establishment of the Focus Enterprise Zone, which has produced tax incentives (yielding 1,700 new jobs and capital investments of $23.7 million); facilitated a $7.2 million roadway, sewer and water reconstruction project for a 1.4 mile section of Great Mills Road.
