On Saturday, June 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. the third annual Beerfest was held on the grounds of Historic St. Mary’s City to delight of beer and music lovers and fresh air and sunshine enthusiasts from all over the tri-county area. The throngs of visitors arrived early and enjoyed great entertainment, great beer and demonstrations of historic and modern day brewing techniques. In addition, people enjoyed a Van Swearingen Tour where they were introduced to one of the first beer taverns in the colony owned by Garrett VanSwearingen. Others enjoyed cider making a demonstration and lecture. For the children there was a ‘Kids Tent’ with all kinds of interesting activities for kids of all ages and for adults Home Brewing demonstrations. Entertainment for the afternoon was provided by Geezer and the Piranhas. Southern Maryland News Net was there to capture some of the fun and activities. More pictures here.
