The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is reminding homeowners of the resources and programs available to help with foreclosure prevention through the Home Owners Preserving Equity (HOPE) campaign. There are 39 non-profit foreclosure prevention counseling agencies across the state in the Maryland HOPE Counseling network that are poised to help homeowners understand their realistic options; all of the services are at no cost to the homeowner. There are also pro-bono and low-cost attorneys trained and available to address foreclosure. Homeowners who are struggling with a mortgage can call the Maryland HOPE Hotline at 877-462-7555 or visit www.MDHOPE.org to learn how Maryland’s mediation law and the national foreclosure settlement can help.
