A benefit concert for Emily Dare was held on June 29, 2013 at the Holiday Inn on Solomons. The Sam Grow Band was on hand to play and they did attract a crowd of followers. The event started at 9 pm but the place was packed at 8 and there were no empty seats in the house for the overflow crowd. But most of the Sam Grow followers prefer to stand up front and close. For those who don’t know Emily, she is a nurse in the Emergency Room at Calvert Memorial Hospital and lives in St. Leonard. In March of this year, Emily was diagnosed with a cancerous mass and needed surgery to remove it along with a large portion of her colon. After the surgery, the doctor told her she was cancer free and would not have to undergo chemotherapy. Saturday was the first fundraiser and it brought together Emily’s co-workers along with family and friends to celebrate the great progress Emily has made so far.
