The National Association of Town Watch is sponsoring a unique, nationwide crime, drug and violence prevention program on August 6, 2013, called National Night Out. This year marks the 30th anniversary of National Night Out. It provides a unique opportunity for Calvert County to join forces with thousands of other communities across the United States in promoting cooperative, police-community, and crime prevention efforts. The Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse, Inc. is the local sponsor of National Night Out and plays a vital role in assisting the Maryland State Police Barrack U and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland Natural Resources Police in joint crime, drug and violence prevention efforts. It is important for all citizens of Calvert County to be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and the impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs and violence in the county. The important themes of National Night Out are police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness and cooperation. The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) proclaimed that Tuesday, August 6, 2013 be known as National Night Out in Calvert County.
