Wild Turkey Federation 301-689-0204 The National Wild Turkey Federation invites youth to take part in its Western Maryland JAKES Hunter Field Day ─ which stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship. The event will feature a fun day of activities and programs that will teach participants about wildlife conservation, natural resource stewardship, hunting and more. The JAKES Field Day will include a guided woods walk, hunter safety seminars, a BB gun shooting activity and a nature craft activity. All shooting activities will be closely supervised by certified instructors. Spots are limited. Participants are asked to pre-register by stopping by or contacting the New Germany State Park Ranger Station at 301-895-5453, or the Maryland Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation at 301-689-0204. The $10 fee includes a one-year JAKES membership and subscription to JAKES magazine. The event is free for current JAKES members.
