Last summer, Jôseline traveled to Lebrun, Haiti for a youth empowerment mission trip. There, Jôsi and Jérémie, then 8 and 6, assisted with various youth empowerment projects which included: English literacy, music development, character education, video production, sports development and construction of a community earth oven. Shortly after their return from Haiti the pair established “Liv Sa,” a children’s literacy empowerment project. It is an English literacy book collection project that donates new and gently used children’s books to help establish community-based libraries in underprivileged villages throughout Haiti. During 2012, Jôsi and Jérémie were first to donate several hundred books to a newly established library in the village of Lebrun, Haiti. Since the catastrophic earthquake in 2010 in Haiti –that killed over 300,000 people, injured 300,000 more and left over 1.5 million people homeless – Jôsi and Jérémie have been on a crusade to help Haiti. It was then that the 4 and 6- years-old participated in a skate-a-thon to help Haiti at Bowie Ice Arena just weeks after the devastating earthquake.
