UPDATE: The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the recent hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in a wheelchair and has received information indicating the vehicle may not have been white as originally reported. The investigation began on Aug. 17 about 11 p.m., when the CCSO responded to the report of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of St. Charles Parkway and St. Thomas Drive in Waldorf. The preliminary investigation indicated the victim, a 35-year-old Waldorf man in a wheelchair, was attempting to cross the parkway when a vehicle struck him and fled the scene. Witnesses called 911. Police and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene and believed the victim’s injuries were possibly life-threatening. The victim was flown to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where remains in stable condition. The CCSO’s Traffic Operations Unit is continuing to analyze evidence recovered at the scene, which suggests the vehicle may be a Ford. Witnesses initially described the vehicle as white but new leads suggest the vehicle may have been another color.
