On Saturday, September 7, at 11:57pm, police fire and rescue workers was alerted to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Charles Street in the area of the Zekiah Swamp Bridge. While enroute, units were advised that there was one priority 1 patient who was unconscious and that aviation was being started. Crews arrived on scene to find one vehicle, overturned in the woods with one patient heavily trapped. Crews from La Plata, Hughesville, and Bel Alton 1, 2, and 10 worked to extricate the patient. After a lengthy extrication, the patient was turned over to the Charles County Rescue Squad and the Flight Medic from Trooper 7, who had arrived on the scene. An ambulance from the Charles County Rescue Squad transported one patient to Charles Regional, and Trooper 7 flew the patient who was extricated to Prince George’s Hospital Center.
