When: Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 08:30 am Where: Solomons Island Rain or Shine: A timed 5K (3.1 miles) run and fun walk – all events with or without your dogs! Enjoy a mostly level course through scenic Solomons Island beginning at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. You will enjoy a beautiful view of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay for the duration of the walk/run. This event will be timed by the Chesapeake Bay Running Club. Help us to raise funds assisting us in our continuing mission to: Improve our community for animals and people by: sheltering and protecting animals from harm; placing them into caring, responsible environments; increasing awareness through humane education and community outreach; endeavoring to reduce animal overpopulation and to eliminate cruelty; serving as an advocate for animals by promoting humane standards; and enhancing the relationship between animals and people. The Humane Society of Calvert County has been a “No-Kill” animal shelter since established in 1975. HSCC is looking forward to a growing crowd this year.
