St. Mary’s County Fair Bringing Old and New

The St. Mary’s County Fair is produced by the St. Mary’s County Fair Association each September during the third weekend after Labor Day. Typically over 1000 people will enter their handiwork in the competitions which include livestock, home arts, farm and garden, arts and crafts, and 4-H departments. Most exhibits are judged on Thursday morning and the Fair is open for general viewing on Thursday afternoon. Some contests, such as the speech contest and judging of livestock, occur during the Fair. Premium moneys, ribbons, and trophies are awarded to the winning exhibits. The 2013 St. Mary’s County Fair will feature both popular old and new events and exhibits, like Donald Burroughs with his miniature mules. Celebrating its 41th year in the U.S. fair industry, this multi-generation, multi-talented family of performers specializes in entertaining families of all ages: The beautiful Mitchell Showboat provides a memorable setting for comedy ventriloquism and fast-paced variety marionette shows as seen on TV and at such venues as Disneyland and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
