The Calvert County Fair is one of the oldest in Maryland, dating back to 1886 when local men got together to display their cattle and tobacco as a social event. The early fairs were held in a variety of locations and as the event evolved the Calvert County Farm Bureau was organized to plan an annual event to showcase the agriculture of Southern Maryland and bring families together for some good old fashioned fun. Today, the fair includes a wide range of activities including farm animals, exhibits, musical, entertainment, food, carnival rides, contests and a 4H auction.
