Darryl Garland, 56 of Waldorf, MD, passed away on September 21, 2013. He was born on December 21, 1956 in Waukegan, Illinois to parents Elbert and Viola Garland. Darryl received his education from North Chicago School and Cumberland Valley High School, Mechanicsburg, PA., from where he graduated in 1974. He also attended Harrisburg Community College. Darryl grew up as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout and served on the junior usher board at his church. Darryl enlisted in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge after six years. In 1980, he married Deborah Baker and from this union, they had one son, Bryan Darryl. This marriage later ended in divorce. Darryl was employed by the U.S. Park Service, Arlington, VA and later employed by the U.S. Postal Service, Waldorf, MD. Darryl received many commendations, especially for his exemplary leave earned record. Darryl is known for his generosity in donating leave days to co-workers who were in need. He retired after thirty-four years of government service. Darryl loved the Chicago Bulls, Bears and Cubs teams. He also enjoyed watching classic black and white films on TV and listening to music.
