A tentative agreement has been reached between the Board of Education’s negotiating team, the Education Association of St. Mary’s County (EASMC), and the Collective Education Association of St. Mary’s County (CEASMC). The agreements provide for: • One step on July 1, 2013 for the previously negotiated merit step not received by qualifying staff during the 2010-2011 school year • One step effective the middle of school year 2013-2014 for the previously negotiated merit step not received by qualifying staff during the 2011-2012 school year • Qualifying staff who do not receive a salary increase for either of the two steps listed above will receive an $800 one-time stipend in December 2013, under separate check • The agreements also extend the current contract for language for two additional years with openers for salary as called for in the current contracts. The current agreements, scheduled to conclude in July 2015, will now conclude in July 2017. Dr. Michael J.
