Did you know that Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum welcomes 60,000 guests every year? Our guests come in all shapes, sizes and ages and we’ve been working hard to provide something for everyone for almost 30 years now. But a closer look at our offerings revealed that we’ve been leaving out our youngest guests. In looking around we realized that there was an obvious place to begin working on this problem: our Children’s Discovery Room! The Discovery Room is just inside the main entrance of our Visitor Center on the left. If you visit or have been recently, you’ll see that it’s a monochromatic space with adult-sized furniture and lots of breakable stuff. There’s not much about the room that shouts “Kids!” or “Discovery!” We’re hoping that the Discovery Room Redo project will change that. We just launched an exciting crowd funding campaign which you can check out at www.razoo.com/story/Discoroom and are hoping to raise the last bit of money we need for the room redo with the help of lots of small donations and having the word about the campaign spread!
