On Saturday, December 14, volunteers arrived at the Calvert County Fair Building to set up the tables for Sunday shopping for the recipients. The Patuxent NJROTC, St. John Vianney’s Men’s Group, Boy Scout Troop 429, Jerry Kepich, Lora Norton, Stephanie Lazar, Kimberly Imel, Christine Westherald and Brandi Grabis, and just plain citizens, unloaded the trucks and boxes, putting everything on display on the tables. “Donations were a lot lighter this year than in the past, according to Krista Brezina, Executive Director Children’s Aid, Inc. We did a “Stuff the Truck” event to help offset the loss and were able to get 6 boxes full. We also received 24 bikes that we need to pickup”. Toys for Tots of Calvert County distributed toys to over 1,000 local children this holiday season. The distribution was on Sunday. Parents were given 1 of 5 different appointment slots to come select toys. During the 5 ½ hour distribution on Sunday, 285 families selected 3 toys, 2 stocking stuffers and 1 book per child as well as a board game for the family.
