The St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce held a Legislative Breakfast and Briefing Session on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Old Breton Inn in Leonardtown. The breakfast was sponsored by SMECO, Wyle, and DML. On hand to discuss the current legislative issues were Senator Roy Dyson, Minority Leader Delegate Tony O’Donnell, Delegate Johnny Woods and Delegate John Bohanan. Tom Dennison, SMECO Spokesperson, introduced the VIPs in the audience and those who would be speaking on the legislative topics and answering questions. Some of the dignitaries in the audience were St. Mary’s Commissioner President Jack Russell, St. Mary’s Commissioners Dan Morris and Todd Morgan and Leonardtown Mayor Dan Burris. Senator Dyson was the first speaker on the legislative topics. He said the three hot topics were the gun bill, the death penalty and the wind bill. Dyson said he was opposed to all three. He had gotten over 3200 emails at his office on the gun control bill and only 50 were in favor of it with all the rest being against.
