Jon Carroll Hyde, 78 of Shady Side passed away December 16, 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. He was born October 17, 1935 in Cumberland, MD to Marl Henry and Audrey Mae (Skidmore) Hyde. Jon was employed as a printer for the Washington Post. He married Dorothy McKenzie on September 9, 1999 and they made their home in Shady Side. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Deale Elk Lodge 2528, Shady Side Moose Lodge 2279, and the American Legion Post 7 in Annapolis. He was an avid Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles fan, and also enjoyed playing golf. Jon was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Dorothy “Dottie” McKenzie Hyde, children Carroll Copen (Freddie Don) of Elliston, VA, Lyn Hyde of Texas, and Jon Hyde, Jr. (Shelley) of Abilene, TX. Also surviving are a sister Joan Golden of Charlottesville, VA; eighteen grandchildren, and step children Debbie Osborn of Jacksonville, FL, Linda McKenzie of Glen Burnie, Donna Eberly of St. Margate, FL, and Hadley “Fred” McKenzie, Jr., of Deale.
