On January 19, 2014 at 1:07 am, a vehicle fire was discovered by a passerby at the intersection of Spring Hill Rd and Glen Albin Rd in La Plata. The La Plata Volunteer Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the blaze. The preliminary cause was classified as incendiary. The interior passenger compartment of a 2000, red, 4 door, Ford Taurus was destroyed causing an estimated $7800 to the vehicle and $200 to the content.
