On Sunday, January 26, 2014, at approximately 10:30 pm, Deputy First Class Fox of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Greenwood Avenue in North Beach for a Breaking and Entering complaint. Approximately 2 hours later, DFC Fox responded back to the same residence for a destruction of property complaint. The door to the house had been broken as well as the back window of the victim’s vehicle. Before the officer arrived, the suspect had left the scene in a gold Pontiac Grand Am. Deputy First Class Gatton located the vehicle in a parking lot across from St. Anthony’s Church and it was unoccupied. While on the scene, the suspect returned to the vehicle and proceeded to drive in a circle around 2nd and 3rd streets, with Gatton following, waiting on backup to arrive. Corporal McCarroll arrived and tried to box him in but he went around the police car. Gatton chased him up 3rd & Dayton and back to 2nd and then on to Greenwood, while the suspect ran 4 stop signs.
