After 27 years in the federal fire service, Past Huntingtown VFD Fire Chief Mark Morrison has retired from the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center (VAMC) Fire Department, Station 80 as their Assistant Fire Chief In 1979, Mark Morrison joined the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. 7 years after joining, in 1986, Mark was hired as a federal firefighter and assigned to the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Chesapeake Bay Detachment (CBD) Fire Department in Chesapeake Beach, MD (a now disbanded department). For 19 years, Mark worked at the CBD Fire Department that housed a single engine company, Engine Company 15. While employed as a federal firefighter, Mark lived less than 15 minutes away in Huntingtown, just a few houses up from the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. He quickly rose through the ranks and eventually served as the Fire Chief during the years of 2002, 2003 & 2004. 8 years ago, in 2006, Chief Morrison moved to Shepherdstown, West Virginia with his family and transferred to the VAMC Fire Department in Martinsburg.
