It didn’t happen overnight…….. Most likely we have all seen the articles or heard about the situation at Hallowing Point trailer park. It is very sad that in a county as small as ours, this situation went unnoticed for so long…or did it? Two statements made by county commissioners this week ring very true. The first…”this didn’t happen overnight, it won’t be fixed overnight”. The second…”I think Calvert County has some looking to do in handling complaints” It is a shame that this went as far as it did. I’m here to tell you that the county has known about this situation for quite a few years, the complaints are not new. This landlord and the property manager are not new to our county departments. Why did it take the outrage of citizens to put the wheels in motion? Many people have dropped the ball on this situation. From the health department, social services, zoning, inspections the ball was handled like a hot potato with no one wanting to take the lead and address it.
