Schools, churches, organizations and businesses looking to green their community this spring are encouraged to check out the recently released TREE-MENDOUS 2013 order form, which features high-quality, native trees and shrubs available at discounted prices for plantings on public lands. “Increasing the tree canopy in public, urban areas not only revitalizes the look and feel of these communities, it benefits our State’s natural resources and citizens by helping restore our air and water, and expanding habitat for wildlife,” said TREE-MENDOUS Coordinator Lindsay Major. TREE-MENDOUS trees and shrubs are available for planting in any public area in Maryland, such as community open spaces, school grounds, government facilities and rights-of-way. Maryland Green Schools receive a one-to-one match on orders up to 20 trees. Purchasers should make sure they receive permission from the facility or land manager before ordering trees.
