Did you know that right now there are about three-and-half million jobs in the U.S. that remain unfilled? Three-and-a-half-million. That’s more than a quarter of the total number of Americans looking for work. “What’s happening is something experts call ‘the skills gap.’ Businesses are having a hard time finding people qualified enough to do these jobs. “One culprit here is our job-training system, which thwarts job-seekers with a maze of duplicative programs and bureaucratic waste. “To level this playing field, we’ve introduced the SKILLS Act. This common-sense piece of legislation will eliminate and streamline dozens of job training programs. It’ll reduce roadblocks that prevent people from getting access to the skills they need. And it will boost oversight, so that taxpayers see the best results. “These reforms will put job-seekers in the driver’s seat and help them compete in today’s workforce.”
