James Walker Thompson, 68 of Brandywine, MD, passed on February 18, 2014 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. James was born June 17, 1945 in Manhattan, NY. He was the son of the late James Walker Thompson and Flora White-Thompson. James enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, fishing, hunting, camping, photography and collecting African-American artifacts. James served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Before moving to Maryland in the late 70′s, he worked for Brooklyn Union Gas Company. As he settled into his new life in Maryland, he followed his passion for teaching and began his teaching career in air conditioning and refrigeration as well as coached the track and football team for Gwynn Park High School. James never lost his passion and furthered his career at Danfross and Besche Oil where he continued to teach air conditioning and refrigeration. Once James became ill, he was forced to stop working but that did not stop him. Once he had control over his health, he continued working as an independent contractor and trainer.
