High School and CSM Applications Due May 1 The Charles County Arts Alliance is announcing its annual Arts Scholarship Program, which awards a $1000 scholarship to an outstanding graduate at each Charles County public high school and the College of Southern Maryland (CSM). The scholarships are designated for students planning to attend a four-year college or university in fall 2013 and majoring in the performing, visual or literary arts leading to a professional career in the arts. The Alliance’s Arts Scholarship Program commenced in 1999, and to date has supported the higher education academic pursuits of over 50 talented and creative Charles County students in music, visual art, drama, dance and literature. The scholarship recipients are publicly announced during the Senior Awards Night at the six county high schools in June, and the CSM graduate recipient is notified by letter. CCAA Education Committee Chair Kathleen Jenkins stated, “The Charles County Arts Alliance is very pleased that we can support those students who are interested in majoring in the arts at college.
