The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) is kicking off its 145th anniversary with a trip through its history on display at the Baltimore Inner Harbor Visitors center. NRP will have several pieces of equipment on display, from the earliest oyster cannon used in the oyster wars of the 1800’s, to one of NRP’s newest addition, a 38 foot Metal Shark boat. A relic of the pre-civil war Oyster Police, the cannon was used to protect Maryland’s native oysters during the “Oyster Wars” of the 19th century.
