Passport to the Past: Immigration Take a break from 2013 during spring break. Kids are invited to grab a Passport to the Past and take a trip back to colonial Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City. Everyone knows Maryland was an English colony; your Passport will help you find out what everyone does not know! Early Maryland was a melting pot where different nationalities came together. Travel to the Waterfront, Town Center, the Plantation, and the Indian Hamlet to discover how immigrants introduced unique cultures, traditions, pastimes, and languages. Draw a flag, write a note to your ancestors, paint a rock petroglyph, churn butter, and make a bubble wand as you consider our international roots. Passport to the Past will take place on Fridays, March 29 and April 5, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. All ages will enjoy HSMC’s living history; special activities are geared for children ages 5- 12 years. Admission is $5 per child. Historic St. Mary’s City is a museum of living history and archaeology on the site of Maryland’s first capital in beautiful, tidewater Southern Maryland.
