UPDATE: Phone number for MSP in Jessup: Phone: (410) 486-3101 The Maryland Senate has approved a gun control bill backed by Governor Martin O’Malley. The vote was 28-19 with 28 Democrats voting for the bill and 7 democrats and 12 Republicans voting in opposition. The Thursday evening vote was the same as the first vote on February 28, 2013. The bill now goes to Governor O’Malley for his signature. After the Governor signs the bill, Maryland will have the toughest gun laws in the nation. It bans 45 assault style weapons and limits the size of gun clips to 10 rounds. It also requires all handgun buyers to go through the Maryland State Police and submit their fingerprints and obtain a license. It also limits access of guns to mentally ill persons.
