The Charles County Commissioners will host a public groundbreaking on Wednesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. This project will establish a separate transfer pavilion for VanGO operations for local transit patrons. WHAT: VanGO Transfer Pavilion Groundbreaking • This new transfer pavilion will allow all VanGO buses to stage at the same time, and will separate local transit from commuter bus operations. • The project will involve upgrading the existing Waldorf/Smallwood Drive Park and Ride facility by constructing an information office with restroom facilities for bus drivers. • The project includes the installation of six transit bus shelters (6 x 12 ft) and park benches to protect customers from the weather (with 12 additional benches for seating). • Trash receptacles, security cameras and increased street lighting will be added to enhance customer comfort and safety.
