The Grand Prize Winner, Delightful Nature by Alana Koh, to be featured on the 2013-2014 Maryland Bay Game cover. From creative collages to pensive poems, this year’s Color Maryland Green contestants made it extremely difficult for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to pick the winners. Eleven champions were chosen from more than 150 students, grades K-12, who submitted original artwork and poetry inspired by their appreciation for the State’s natural resource. “I want to congratulate these students on their wonderful artwork and poetry and thank them for sharing these creations with all of us,” said DNR Secretary John Griffin. “Color Maryland Green is a fun way to engage children in their natural world, while reinforcing the value of stewardship and conservation.” The annual Color Maryland Green contest is designed to encourage children to take advantage of the abundant recreational opportunities and natural resources that Maryland has to offer. Each entry was unique in encapsulating the beauty and wonder of the State’s outdoors.
