Although I have posed this question on my page many times in the past, I am going to post it again. I am doing this because, after spending a lifetime engrossed in the sometimes science, sometimes philosophy & sometimes magic of economics I sincerely wish to understand why, despite no data or even anecdotal evidence to the contrary, some believe that turning over their money and yours to a group of politicians & bureaucrats with no intellectual capabilities greater than ours will lead to societal prosperity? I am not referring to our military or court system or the defined Constitutional roles of an effective but limited government, but the behemoth it has become, now consuming nearly 25% of everything we produce. Outside of invective and hateful responses from some angry political foes, I have never received an answer to this question that passes the muster of common sense. Are politicians & bureaucrats blessed with a benevolence and sense of charity you do not have? Do they understand the needs of small business and middle-class Americans despite the overwhelming majority being neither business owners or members of the middle-class?
