In response to the great need for psychiatric care in our community, Walden Behavioral Health is pleased to announce the opening of our newest community mental health clinic at our Hope Place facility in Millison Plaza, Lexington Park. Thanks to a partnership between Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital and Walden, the clinic includes L’Tanya Haith, M.D. Dr. Haith joins a staff of five licensed mental health therapists now taking appointments for care at Hope Place. “We are so pleased to announce this news,” says Kathleen O’Brien, Walden’s Chief Executive Officer. “Many people have been working behind the scenes to try and bring greater access to psychiatric and mental health care in this community. It is rewarding and exciting to see this coming to fruition.” St. Mary’s County is federally designated as a mental health professional shortage area, creating waiting lists and other barriers for those seeking mental health care. “The designation by the state of the Lexington Park, Great Mills and Park Hall area as the Greater Lexington Park Healthcare Enterprise Zone has helped speed up momentum in our community to improve care.
