Suspected Arson in Vehicle Fire

On May 10, 2013 at 1:14 am, the owner of a 1996 Honda Accord at 133 Huckleberry Drive in La Plata, was alerted to a fire in the vehicle by his car horn. The La Plata Volunteer Fire Department responded and put out the flames in approximately 5 minutes. The fire, which originated in the passenger compartment, destroyed the vehicle. The preliminary cause is arson. The estimated loss to the vehicle, owned by Brian Hicks, is $2,000.
