On Monday, May 13, 2013 the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 held their annual Police Memorial Service to honor all the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, became disabled, and those who continue to serve. National Law Enforcement Week is May 12-18 this year. Police Officers, family and friends gathered at the lodge to offer prayers and thanks to all those in uniform. Ed Evans, President of the FOP, led the service. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard presented colors and Pastor Larry Crabtree offered a prayer. Sheriff Tim Cameron commented on the sad fact of police officers who die in the performance of their duty. Cpl. Bobby Maguire read the names of all the actives who passed away since the founding of the lodge and Rick Montrose read the associate names as a bell tolled in the steeple of the building for each one. Sgt. Ed Evans placed memorial wreaths at the base of the flag poles in honor of all members who have passed, served and are serving.
