SERIOUSLY: Staffers at Department Implementing Obamacare Unclear On How Law Works What if we told you just months before Obamacare is scheduled to go into effect, employees at the federal department responsible for putting it in place don’t know how the law works? That would be tough to believe. You’d need someone with a lot of authority to make that claim. Like maybe the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “Secretary Kathleen Sebelius acknowledged yesterday that some in her agency might not know much about the health care law if they don’t work on it every day. In an agency-wide email on Monday, she summarized the law’s basic components and invited employees to sign up for a webinar about the health insurance marketplaces.” (POLITICO, 8/21/13) Well, then, there you have it. Now, it’s well documented that this law is confounding businesses, discouraging them from hiring – even leading to a delay of the employer mandate. And it’s creating confusion and uncertainty among American families still forced – unfairly – to comply with the individual mandates.
