On Friday, August 30, 2013, at approximately 2:45 pm, police responded to the area of Chapman Drive and Prather Drive for a vehicle that had run into a trailer. According to witnesses, a 25 year old male was assaulted by at least two other males. One of the attackers was said to be armed with a baseball bat. After being struck in the head, the victim was knocked unconscious, at that point it’s unclear if that caused his vehicle to roll into the trailer, or if the car was pushed down a small hill by one of the attackers, as stated by a witness. The victim was flown to Prince Georges Shock Trauma by a Maryland State Police Helicopter for injuries received in the beating. Members from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office CID team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
