Wednesday, November 27, 10:30p.m., The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following press release. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is participating in Maryland’s statewide Checkpoint Strikeforce initiative, specifically the “Thanksgiving Belts & Booze” campaign. This campaign, which primarily focuses on impaired driving and seatbelt enforcement, spans from November 25-December 13, 2013. Maryland’s “Thanksgiving Belts & Booze” campaign overlaps with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) “Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving” impaired driving campaign, which also spans the same 3-week period. In support of Maryland’s “Thanksgiving Belts & Booze” and NHTSA’s “Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving” campaigns, a sobriety checkpoint and saturation patrol operation will be set up at approximately 2230 hours on Three Notch Rd. in the Hollywood area and run for several hours.
