On January 14, the Southern Maryland Regional Library Association recognized long-time board member and president, Kip Hine, for his years of service to the regional library. Hine fulfilled his maximum years as a board member and more recently as the board president. He was a board member for 16 years (1994-2002 and 2005 – 2013) having served 11 of them as board president (1995 – 2002 and 2009 – 2013). “Kip has been a special friend and library advocate who has given many years to advancing library excellence,” said Sharan Marshall, Director, Southern Maryland Regional Library Association. “He leaves our board with a reputation as more than just a friend to public libraries, but as an active campaigner on our behalf. He will certainly be missed.” The regional library’s board of trustees is made up of nine members, three members each appointed by their respective library system boards of trustees in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
