On Monday, January 20, 2014, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the St. Mary’s County Human Relations Commission, St. Mary’s County Human Relations Commission, St. Mary’s County Public Schools, and the College of Southern Maryland sponsored the 10th Annual Southern Maryland Martin Luther King, Jr., Prayer Breakfast in the J. Frank Raley Great Room at the Campus Center of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Breakfast began at 6 am with an extensive menu for all to enjoy. Promptly at 8 am, The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Drum Corps made their entrance, alerting everyone, that the program was about to begin. Master of Ceremony was Kelsey Bush, Youth Coordinator for the St. Mary’s County Division of Community Services and Commissioner of Maryland’s Commission on African American History and Culture. Reverend Roderick McClanahan of the First Missionary Baptist Church provided the invocation, in which he asked all “to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.” President Ian Newbould of St. Mary’s College of Maryland welcomed all and recognized those who organized this event.
