The Patuxent High School Panthers Volleyball Team won the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association 2013 2A State Championship; and are ranked number one in Class 2A rankings and are ranked number six in Max Preps. They are ranked number seven in Final Volleyball Standings by the Washington Post. The Patuxent Panthers defeated an undefeated Poolesville team (17-0) and twice overcame 2-0 deficits to win matches 3-2 in 2013 Class 2A volleyball playoffs. They also placed four players on 2013 All-SMAC volleyball teams. The Patuxent Panthers entire team (including 7 seniors) exuded Panther Pride, Poise and Perseverance throughout the entire 2013-14 volleyball campaign and especially throughout the playoffs. The team’s motto is “Don’t Ever Give Up” and they never did. The Calvert County Board of Education took time during their meeting on Thursday, February 20th to read a proclamation to the team and also to commend the coaches, Head Coach Kevin Keller, Assistant Coaches, Sean Benedik and Tiffany Heamstead for leading the team to victory.
