High school students with an interest in forestry, fisheries, wildlife or parks management are invited to join teens from Maryland and surrounding states at Natural Resources Careers Camp, July 21 to 27 in Garrett County. Experts from a variety of conservation fields will provide campers with a firsthand look at what a career in natural resources is all about. “This program is perfect for young adults planning a career in conservation, or those with an interest in natural resources who want to see if this profession is right for them,” said Donna Davis, project forester for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Wildlife biologists, park managers and water resources biologists will serve as guest instructors throughout the week. Each group of students will use what they have learned to write and present a management plan on a small area of forest. The camp also features College Night where representatives from West Virginia University, Virginia Tech, the University of Maryland, Frostburg University, Allegany College of Maryland and Garrett College speak to campers about their programs and provide related material.
