The Calvert County Redistricting Committee (CCRC) presented three draft maps for the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) at the meeting on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. The committee was a bi-partisan makeup consisting of Russell Costley, Annette Funn, Greg Kernan, Jay Lounsbury, Judy MacWilliams, Jena Baker McNeill, Wilson Parran, Bill Phalen and Steve Waugh. The committee was established in May 2011 and directed to perform an analysis to see if the current election districts should be adjusted based on the 2010 census. The BOCC directed the Committee to recommend options for the 3 Election Districts in public session. The Committee also considered the option to make no change in the current boundaries as they still meet the requirements for district size. The population used for redistricting calculation was based on the 2010 Census adjusted population of 88,903, provided by the Maryland Department of Planning. The adjusted population complies with the Maryland “No Population Without Representation” Act of 2010. This act required that Maryland residents in correctional institutions be reassigned to their last known address, and excludes out-of-state residents.
